When Catherine Henderson and her son Andrew moved into their Glasgow townhouse seven years ago, the family immediately felt at home. 'I had grown up in the adjacent street, and that was a major part of this place's attraction,' says Catherine.

Also instantly appealing were the building's high ceilings, curved staircase and floor-to-ceiling windows, even if the decor was uninspiring. 'The house had just been renovated by a developer, so the place was somewhat bland,' Catherine explains. But this meant that Andrew and I could live here in comfort before I introduced any changes.'
